For centuries, humankind has been fascinated with scientific discovery – from the early astronomical breakthroughs of Galileo Galilei, to modern advancements in digital technology. This compass comes in a dark wood octagonal box, and is finished with a brass covering and lid. The lid can be propped open to display the compass on your desk, or perhaps on the stern on your modern-day Endeavour. It is decorated with the detailing from 16th Century maps – a big sun, fish and sea dragons, and the first early markings of land.
